Kathy Lambert Announces Re-election Campaign for King County Council

County Councilmember Kathy Lambert announces today that she will run for re-election to the King County Council in the Third District. “I pledge to continue my efforts to make county government more accountable for what it spends,” said Lambert.  “As county government meets the challenges of a new century, we need to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely while still providing essential services to the citizens.”

Lambert’s Third District includes large portions of unincorporated King County where King County also provides the only level of local government services.  “I’m especially concerned that rural needs are met and not with Seattle solutions.  I believe we can better meet the needs of our residents while protecting our quality of life.

Transportation is another priority for Lambert.  “We must improve our transportation system, and in our area that means critical road improvements and bus transit improvements,” added Lambert.  “Our families and small businesses need less congestion and safer levels of service.”

The huge Third Council district that Lambert represents was recently expanded to include new areas in Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah and North Bend due to the reduction in the number of council districts from thirteen to nine.  So the new district will include Redmond, Woodinville, North Bend, Carnation, Duvall, Snoqualmie, Sammamish, Issaquah, Fall City and Skykomish.  Lambert previously served seven years as State Representative for the 45th Legislative district.  She has lived in the Third district for 23 years.  She resides in Redmond.
