The Metropolitan King County Council today unanimously confirmed the appointment of Chief Susan Rahr as King County Sheriff. Rahr has been the acting Interim Sheriff since the resignation of David Reichert after his election to Congress. ... “I have worked with Chief Rahr on a number of issues and I know she’s going to be great Sheriff,” said Councilmember Kathy Lambert, Chair of the Council’s Law, Justice and Human Services Committee. “She has always been focused on the safety of county residents, but has never forgotten that establishing strong ties with communities is the most effective form of law enforcement. Metropolitan King County Councilmember Kathy Lambert said today’s announcement that King County will sell roughly 20 acres of surplus property to the Friends of Woodinville Farmers Market means that there will be increase opportunities for people to exercise their “green thumbs” and have more locally grown foods. “I want to applaud the effort of the many citizens of Woodinville who worked so hard and with such dedication to see this project come to reality,” said Lambert, who represents Woodinville on the County Council. “What they have accomplished is the creation of a public space for both farmers and those who want to add to the beauty of their community.”

County councilwoman Lambert says police ignored her account

King County Councilwoman Kathy Lambert has jumped into the middle of a growing controversy surrounding the firing of a Redmond police commander. Lambert said yesterday she witnessed a key event that led to the sacking last week of Gail Marsh. But she claims Redmond police refused to believe her and omitted her account from a lengthy report.
